I wasn't too sure of how familar he is with GPSs and their issues and that basically the commercial ones aren't as accurate as the military ones (with good reason.) I have stood at a location and watched the tiny "drift" in elevation and in position. The advice about letting it sit on a flat platform with a clear view of the sky (after being sure you've calibrated the thing) is advice I got from a surveyor who's been using the things for a good 10 years or so.
