Is that the quote I posred from Firth and Quibell in English on page 59 of the reference, or is the 1931 reference a different one by Lauer in French to the same red lines found?

Sorry to be pedantic but I've got to be thorough...
The interest in the these lines is they are the very earliest good and secure demonstration of the use of the Cubit, and already by this time it was fixed and accurate at 524mm.
Mastaba 17 at Meidum had references to Cubits - but I'm not sure if there was any marked out dimensions of use found - I don't recall.
Before this, the cubit sign is found as far back as King Scorpion's ceremonial palette, but there's no dimensions on that obviously.
