I've been looking for a paper from the 20's by Borchardt,that Fahkry mentions in his book "The Pyramids".
He did an extensive analysis of teh site. but then so did Petrie. Supposedley it is the first site with evidence of all the component parts ie VT,Causeway, MT, enclosure and pyramid.
of course that would tend to argue as much for it having been Huni's after all???
I have to interject with...I wish we knew exactly Why Manetho ended the 3rd and began the 4th where he did. that would go a long way towards answering these question methinks
