The AEs could, just like us today, calculate figures well beyond the range of their physical measuring abilities.
However, because I doubt that in practice the AEs measured to less than than 1/16 of a digit (1/448 of a royal cubit) - 0.05"/1mm, I consider it unlikely that in practice an AE scribe would have actually calculated much beyond 1/16 of a digit, i.e. 1/448 (28 digits x 16) of a royal cubit.
