Hermione,
I made an error in my post regarding member III limestone at giza, I put granite in place of limestone, no granite at Giza AFAIK, all granite there is from Aswan. My intention was to say that some of the larger cut stones, those in the gallery may have there origin from the limestone out-crop that G1 sits upon, suggesting that perhaps they intentionally cut the top down to accept the structure and because the member III is the hardest stone on the plateau and roughly matches the elevation of the knoll under the pyramid perhaps such stone was first quarried before construction started at that level, providing those stones to the higher elevation. I admit I started some confusion and it was not on purpose my apologies to all.
