"Hunh? And this guy is an Egyptologist?"
-- Some people have been looking for a second sphinx for a very long time; I think I read about an excavation 100 years ago looking for a second sphinx. Here is a reference to Flinders Petrie looking for a second sphinx:
Quote
"Flinders stayed on a little in Cairo; he wanted to test a theory that the Great Sphinx at Giza might have had a counterpart on the other side of the Nile; he walked from Ma'adi over every foot of the ground opposite the pyramids, examining each outcrop of rock, and decided that there was no evidence for a contra-sphinx." -- Flinders Petrie: A Life in Archaeology
Some neat pictures:
"Dream Stela carved by Thutmosis IV clearly depicted two sphinxes. The inventory Stela exhibited at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo did the same."
It appears this researcher is recycling his 10-year-old theory(based on somebody else's much older theory.) Here is his website: [

It's nice to read hypothetical ideas, but without more evidence, many of these ideas get properly shelved.
