Hi Ritva,
R: "I think the image says differently, because the pyramid determinative does not necessarily mean a pyramid. It has been used for regular tombs and mastabas as well"
The O24 'pyramid' det. in "Going downstream in peace to Akhet-Khufu, to the tomb" (xd m Htp r Axt-xwfw r iz) is the det. for the name of Khufu's pyramid (tomb), 'Akhet Khufu'. The tomb (iz) where Djaty was buried in the western cemetery of Akhet Khufu, has the O1 'house' det.
As the pyramid is the most conspicuous of tombs, it was only natural the O24 'pyramid' det. could also come to represent a non pyramid tomb - later the tomb sometimes had a small pyramid placed on the top. "....the idea of the pyramid lived on in another form, and even spread. In a certain sense it became popular, and its meaning moved to a different level. From the 18th Dyn on, it symbolized the primeval mound, as well as the sun god who rose on the eastern horizon, and the memory of the royal tomb. It became an important decorative element in private tombs ....." (Verner 2001 (1997): 445-6)
Tjetu was, ‘Overseer of the pyramid town Akhet-Khufu, and ‘Supervisor of funerary priests of Akhet-Khufu’. ‘Pyramid town, Akhet Khufu’ may refer to a separate community that served the cult of Khufu at Akhet Khufu, or simply to the royal funerary complex that included the pyramid. As ‘Supervisor of funerary priests of Akhet-Khufu’, Tjetu was serving in Khufu’s cult complex on the east side of his pyramid.
