Thanks, Doug. This is highly interesting! The text says they gave up this at the end of OK. But why did they ever begin with trying to tame hyenas...??? For the sake of being able to tame them and teach them? An interesting detail about mummification is, that according to the estimations only some 10% of all the AE burials had the body mummified and buried ina rock tomb. The rest was done in the olden way: a hole in the ground and wish for the best (hence the Ae horror of woorms and putrefaction). Maybe they tried to train the hyenas to guard the "cemetaries" instead of destroying?
