Javier said it best: how about some shots moving around the fossil?
In my opinion, it's a digital matte painting and not a very good one at that. Pay close attention to the last shot, notice that blur in the shadow under the fossil? That's not natural. The edges of the fossil in other shots are a little too crisp, etc, etc. I see quite of bit of this stuff, as I do similar things for a living. In my opinion, it's fake.
Also, why would a news crew filter the video in order to get that yellowish tinge to the sky? That is either a filter or it was done in post, my guess, this effect was created with Magic Bullet editors or another type of post-production software to hide some of the imperfections in the digital matte painting.
