Not that I am responsible for defending Hari, as far as I am concerned we are discussing my ideas. However, he is referring to the BJP, the fundamentalist Hindu party that is currently running India. India is a very complex country- which produces more engineeers than the US every year, has a flourishing pharmaceutical and high tech industry. We are sending increasing numbedrs of technical jobs to places like Bangalore, etc. At the same time, there are a large number of illiterate poor subsistence farmers living in backward villages and there are many who are taken in by the baloney and pseudoscience of the BJP. The USA also has many scientists and also scientific illiterates who are taken in by the baloney put out by young earth creationists. "scientific creationists, and "Intelligent Designers." We have to avoid being simplistic just forthe sake of argument.
