I don't know what basis you're using for saying that people nowadays are less healthy than people 100ya. It occurs to me that life span is an important factor in that we don't know what that extra thirty or forty years means for people today wrt health. I do think that fast foods, snack foods, and certain kinds of manufactured oils tend to have a very harmful effect on people, causing obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and probably some cancers. Scientists have also found a link between mercury and autism, making vaccines containing mercury a possible culprit; canned fish also contains unacceptable amounts of mercury.
Also, I couldn't say that food tastes any better or worse than it did a long time ago; but I can say that some foods I eat today taste better than others, depending on how it was grown or processed.
A good case can be made for the benefits of a more natural diet consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables, and free range meats. That's what I eat mostly, along with following the blood type diet, with great results. It strikes me that as a type O, I should follow more of a hunter-gatherer diet, and that seems to suit my body to a tee. I've licked some serious physical problems, and I'm very happy about that. Another added bonus is that I can eat a LOT of this food and not gain weight; it appears that certain foods metabolize better than others and enhance my metabolism beneficially, so I make sure to eat them every day. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I also like them. Life is good.
