lol, I can see this as being made into another one of those world destruction movies...In this case, NY scientists make a blackhole and lose control of it...NY is, of course, destroyed as the world frantically scrambles for survival. Then, some rogue scientists flies in, drops a nuke in the middle of the black hole and the world is saved a la black hole meets The Core.
