I just got my itinerary for a trip next month from Canada to France And having crossed the atlantic more than a dozen times ; there is a question I always pondered but never asked : Why does it take one hour more to fly east to west than west to east on a transatlantic Journey ? Some flights climb as high as 11000 meters (33000 feet ) does the spin of the earth affect the time of a flight ? Even on my London to Paris flight the difference is 15 mn . Anyone has any idea on this .
