Hagiographies are fun. I've got the book, "Saints Preserve Us" which goes through a lengthy list of Catholic saints - some really entertaining stories there.

And for some modern ones, some very tragic true ones. Like Saint Maimilian Kolbe [en.wikipedia.org]
