Well, that's very true - civilisation developed with agriculture of grass crops.

Barbarians survived tho as well - Ghengis khan etc were basically a hunter gatherers (*gross sweeping oversimplification alert*)....they referred to the Persians iirc as a people who 'eat grass like cattle'....
