Simplistic codes can be reasonably secure if they are only used between a few people, but if say a world-wide secret fraternity uses the same code, keeping this code secure becomes that much more difficult. For I assume that the leadership of such an international organisation needs to have a particular code number so to check if the information they receive is correct and not false. And so to the letters "D. M. - O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V." carved on the goat Shepherd’s Monument in the gardens of Shugborough House.

Joe, I read that the standard numerical code for letters in Greek followed this pattern: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, J=10, K=20, L=30, M=40, N=50, O=60, P=70, Q=80, R=90, S=100, T=200, U=300, V=400, W=500, X=600, Y=700, Z=800.

Yet one does need to consider the ‘Old English’ letters which can in fact refer to other letters, such as V’s are U’s, U’s are V’s, I’ s are J’s and F’s are S’s. So ‘O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V’ can also be read as ‘O.V.O.F.U.A.U.U.’ So using the standard numerical code for letters in Greek and Hebrew the eight letters ‘O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V.’ are valued at 60 + 300 + 60 + 100 + 400 + 1 + 400 + 400 is 1721. And the alternate lettering of ‘O.V.O.F.U.A.U.U.’ has the value 60 + 400 + 60 + 6 + 300 + 1 + 300 + 300 is 1427. The two letters ‘D. M.’ is 4 + 40 is 44.

So the Shepherd’s Monument in the gardens of Shugborough House reveals three reference numbers, that of 1721 - 1427 - 44

And 1721 x 1721 x 44 x 10 is Death at 190 x 190 x 190 x 190

And the value for ‘ET IN ARCADIA EGO’ is

ET = 5 + 200 is 205

IN = 9 + 50 is 59

ARCADIA = 1 + 90 + 3 + 1 + 5 + 9 + 1 is 109

EGO = 5 + 7 + 60 is 72

The total for ‘ET IN ARCADIA EGO’ is 445, a reference for Mars, the god of War.

The reference 445 is that for Mars, the ‘God of War’, in that the diameter of the red planet Mars is 4,219 miles (6790km) and so one quarter of an area for Mars based upon its radius is 4,450,000 square miles x Pi.
