Having been away sometime I have just stumbled over the Maat so to speak, and fell through the door of the Forum, so having arrived I offer up some Fringe numerology.

Numerology and the Shepherd’s Monument

I was intrigued by the challenge thrown down last year to all by Mr Oliver Lawn (once of Bletchley Park, the famous British war time decoding centre) for someone to solve the mystery of the lettering ‘D. M. - O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V.’ carved on the Shepherd’s Monument in the gardens of Shugborough House, Staffordshire, England. So I began by establishing their value using the standard numerical code for letters in Greek. Over the years I noticed that ancient architects, and later the European artists, often ensured there was a ‘measurement message’ in their work, a message read only by those who knew the number code, and so I say the goat Shepherd’s Monument reveals the number ‘19’ the number for Death and the basis for the NAZI flag, the Swastika, and the Stars and Stripes. The goat has an average gestation period of 152 days or 19 x 8.

The value of the letters “O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V." carved on the goat Shepherd’s Monument is 1721 and the value of the letters "D. M.” is 44. So the goat Shepherd’s Monument at 1721 x 1721 x 44 is equivalent to the Death reference number 190 x 190 x 190 x 19.

The Swastika flag, the ‘Flag of Blood’ has the black four armed swastika symbol in the center on a white circle of a flag with a length to breadth ratio of 3/5. The white circle has a diameter of 43 units and centered at 26 – 43 – 26 units. So a length of 95 units and a depth of 57 units, an area of 5,415 square units, or Death’s reference number 19 x 19 x 150 lots.

The seated marble statue of President Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial is 19 feet high and over at the Jefferson Memorial there stands the 19 feet high statue of President Thomas Jefferson. And the ratio of the ‘Stars and Stripes’ is based upon the number 19 because President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s 50 state official flag of the United States of America has a ratio of 10/19 and a field area of 6,840 square units at 114 x 60.

Nicolas Poussin painted a similar picture to his ‘ET IN ARCADIA EGO’ (‘And I in Arcadia’) entitled ‘The Arcadian Shepherds’ is seen at Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Derbyshire, England, the Duke of Devonshire’s home. In this painting there is a skull on the top of the sarcophagus and for some, the mystery continues with their trying to establish who is buried in the sarcophagus, maybe it was the god Pan.

Pan was originally an Arcadian god, and Arcadia was always the principal seat of his worship. Arcadia was a district of primitive mountain folk, whom other Greeks disdained, as the Olympians patronized Pan. Arcadian hunters used to scourge the statue of the god if they had been disappointed in the chase. Pan was an Arcadian god, and Arcadia was always the principal seat of his worship. Pan, according to legend, was the son of Hermes and the nymph Penelope and Pan possessed the horns and feet of a goat. The god is reputed to have been born in Arcadia and live in caves. Pan was known for making music, and the pipes of Pan were cut from hollow reeds and called the syrinx.

The words “ET IN ARCADIA EGO” (“I, Death, am also in Arcadia”) is a Latin phrase that appears as the title of a painting by Nicolas Poussin and seen on the sarcophagus depicted on the goat Shepherd’s Monument, has the value 445, and is a reference number for the planet Mars, the god of War. And the letters “O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V." at 1721 added to “ET IN ARCADIA EGO” at 445 is 2166. And 2166 divided by 0.4 is the Swastika at 5415 ( or 19 x 190 x 1.5), the Flag of Death.

The standard numerical code for letters in Greek followed this pattern: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9, J=10, K=20, L=30, M=40, N=50, O=60, P=70, Q=80, R=90, S=100, T=200, U=300, V=400, W=500, X=600, Y=700, Z=800.

Yet one does need to consider the ‘Old English’ letters which can in fact refer to other letters, such as V’s are U’s, U’s are V’s, I’ s are J’s and F’s are S’s. So ‘O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V’ can also be read as ‘O.V.O.F.U.A.U.U.’ So using the standard numerical code for letters in Greek and Hebrew the eight letters ‘O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V.’ are valued at 60 + 300 + 60 + 100 + 400 + 1 + 400 + 400 is 1721. And the alternate lettering of ‘O.V.O.F.U.A.U.U.’ has the value 60 + 400 + 60 + 6 + 300 + 1 + 300 + 300 is 1427. The two letters ‘D. M.’ is 4 + 40 is 44.

So the goat Shepherd’s Monument in the gardens of Shugborough House reveals three reference numbers, that of 1721 and 1427 and 44. And 1721 + 1427 + 44 is equivalent various combinations including twice Adam’s 930 years + 666. Also 1427 + 445 “ET IN ARCADIA EGO” is 1,872 and this leads to a rich mix in the Alchemy of Numbers.

Thus I wrote to Oliver Lawn with my suggested code breaking answer which he found interesting but I have not yet received my numerology prize.
