I don't think it's outrageous: I think it's perfectly fair to exhume corpses if some important datum can be acquired, and some significant contribution made to science. Having said that, however, I acknowledge that a lot of people do feel very strongly about human remains, and, clearly, their feelings and sensibilities should be taken into account. (And, having seen pictures this evening of the church floor being removed during the Gosnold exhumation, it certainly struck me as, well, a little distasteful that such a disruptive procedure should have been deemed necessary.)
