Most of the South african indians are gujaratis who are very dark skinned and short, but thin lipped and sharp nosed. they look very different from us the south indians. there is another dark skinned people, bengalis (people from Bangladesh and state of West bengal in india). they are also very dark, very short but very very thin lipped people. again they look very different from us.
Tamilians can be easily mistaken for an african (I don't know which part exactly though).
I am going home to india tommorrow. I will post some pictures when I come back.

malay are mix of tamils more than other groups in india.

yep. my nose is not that very tamilian nose. but my brother's is very much a tamilian nose. very big. I used to call him "potha molaha mookka" meaning, "your nose is as big as green pepper". I was mean, wasn't I.
(he called me big mouthed, I mean shape of the mouth!!! I still go crazy if anyone referred my mouth
