Hi prema
Nice pictures!
Maybe the problem is that people tend to get a "sterotype" idea of foreign cultures and even how different races look thanks to movies and TV etc? When I was a kid there were always lots of World War 2 movies on TV and the Germans were always tall and blonde. I have two German friends and they're both short and dark haired. Maybe that's why some people don't think you look "Indian"?
Ok, I've been thinking about my friends back home in South Africa. My friend Jagrutti (?not sure of spelling, that's how it sounds) is born in India, but never told me where exactly. She came out to South Africa to marry, but before then she'd lived in New York most of her life and so that was where she missed and talked about the most. Her skin is as dark as yours as is her sister-in-law's who was Indian descent, but four/five generations born in South Africa. I'm not sure where the Indians who came out to South Africa were originally from. Ghandi was from the same ancestry, if that helps any.
Now, my other friend, Daria, her husband could be your brother! Honest! Unfortunately I don't have a photo of him as he was the one who took all the photos when we last got together before I left South Africa. He's what in South Africa is called "Cape Malay". His ancestry would go back to the Malay people who were brought out to the Cape Colony, where they mixed with other races. They are a mix of Malaysian, Indian and some European and Negroid. Daria's mother is Indian, her father Cape Malay. She is very dark skinned and has sharp features. You have a more gentle face. Softer lines and more curves. I hope that makes sense, I can't figure out how else to say it. LOL
PS - my friend Jagrutti introduced me to vegetarian Hindu food a long time ago. she used to bring me samples to try out. *drool*
