The number of the beast in oat bran? 
That site was one of the weirder ones I found!
I haven't found anything on the origin of this, only people trying to link it to something in the bible. Since the Hassidic Jews are Kabbalists, you know I'm thinking astrology. 36 keeping the world in ma'at -- Khaemwaset would like it! LOL!
The Testament of Solomon has the decans as angels, but there are other functions for other stars, and I don't think that's a particularly old work.
