You know when waves get near the beach. The top of the starts to curl over and look white and foamy! This is when a wave breaks. I could bore you with the reasons for it happening (its to do with the bottom of the wave slowing down as the sea bed rises), but suffice it to say that it also happens futher away from shore where there are reefs, or in this case buildings for the wave to break over.

So look for woamy white waves in the ocean away from shore is the short of it all.
