see apparently the american robin "Turdus migratorius" (it's true i swear) is the state bird of Michigan, Wisconsin and Connecticut.
The english robin "Erithacus rubecula" is famous world wide for its many appearences on chritmas cards.
The english robin is solitary and delights children and adults alike with its rare visits.(lovely colouration/funny hop/beautiful singing voice)

The american robin hangs around in mobs gets steaming on berries and is a delight to children and adults with its drunken antics around the garden. (falling over/attacking the bird feeder/getting fresh with the rabbit)

now i understand why all those years ago bob kane thought the robin would be a good sidekick for a bat.
In the u.k a robin is only ever partnered with santa claus
