Some good news on the movie front.
Not only a new film by Tarantino (a western titled ‘The Hateful Eight’ ), but also an almost complete ‘western’ score by Il Maestro, Ennio Morricone – his first such score for some 40 years.*
Tarantino has in the past used music composed by Morricone for other films – notably in ‘Kill Bill II’ and ‘Inglourious Basterds’.
Some of the score for ‘The Hateful Eight’ is music originally composed by Morricone for John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’, but rejected by Carpenter; which has has prompted a debate about whether or not Morricone’s ‘The Hateful Eight’ score is ‘an original soundtrack recording’.
Still, whatever the origins of some of this score, rest assured that it will fit ‘The Hateful Eight’ perfectly.
*Morricone has composed, arranged and conducted more than 500 film scores, but only 36 were so-called ‘spaghetti westerns’.
