Just finished The Girl in the Spider's Web (translated by George Goulding) and it met my expectations. David Lagercrantz follows in Stig Larsson's foot steps with a mystery novel that inspires mistrust of government agencies and violence against the defenseless. It is still about Millennium magazine and Mikael Blomkvist and of course Lisbeth. This time the villain is the NSA with it's vast surveillance network that has access to technological secrets that are worth $billions to foreign governments and criminal organizations. The plot is set with the murder of the top Artificial Intelligence researcher that has made a major advance. The only witness is his 8 year old autistic son who can not speak but has savant artistic and mathematical skills. It is fast paced and will probably be made into a movie. My biggest complaint is that you almost need a street map of Stockholm to follow the action.
