Although I agree with doing so, Hancock is not so obliging in
confining his comments to his theories, the evidence for them,
and its interpretation. He indulges in just about every cliche,
accusation, and psychobabble that a person hears from Young
Earth creationists and other fringe researchers to explain and
rationalize why scientists disagree sharply with their viewpoints
including being in "denial" about theories that threaten their
grant funding, previous research, and reputations. The one
original excuse that I found is that academic archaeologists
do not understand ancient cultures because they have not
indulged at one or the other in psychedelic drugs. Besides
being quite naive and ill-informed about archaeologists in
general, this is a rather weird and nonsensical reason for
claiming why archaeologists are incapable of understanding
ancient cultures.
