Glenister also played the Nazi commander in Island at War.
He's a very good, versatile actor.. but then I would say
that acting is a very valued profession in the UK, along
with every other aspect of producing a great show, including
writing, directing, producing, script editing, costuming,
locating, decorating, film editing, music, etc etc.
I've seen a lot of really original stuff on UK tv shows that
I can get my hands on from amazon.uk. Many of your really
great innovative shows aren't always available on American
dvd's... and when they are, they come out much later and I
hate waiting that long. However, I'm not sure how many shows
I'll be able to buy now that the pound is worth over $2.Oh well.
I'll still be able to get some, and that's always good.
I've been watching HBO's "The Wire" lately. I've seen the first
eight shows of season one. That one has a Brit actor at the helm,
Dominic West, who is remarkably excellent. From his accent and
American demeanor, you'd never know he was born in Yorkshire and
went to college in Dublin. I really like Dominic West in that role,
but I hate Hugh Laurie in House and don't watch it. I did see part
of one recent House episode, and it was clear that there was a
moral agenda at play that I found really offensive, so I guess it's
a double whammy of a reason for me not to watch it. A friend of mine
really likes Laurie as House, though, so it might could be just a
matter of personal preference there.
