I want to Say Asimov was one of them, but I wont swear to that. Ill have to dig thru my Misc Trivia files LOL... Thank God For scanners and Burners or I would be sitting on piles of papers .
as far as Clancy, that is correct. The NSA and FBI checked him out. He was dead on the money with the Sonar capabilities and some of the operational details. he had gathered all his data from public sources. Professional journals, the Navy Times, etc... no one particular part was classified, but as a whole it revealed classified material.
Hows this for " now thats strange" Revel model company, from the 1950's till at least 1995 managed to make models of planes, with data like Engines, Weight wing span etc... that were not publicly known to exist ( I.E. classified). LOL.... example that comes to mind.. the SR-71. I had that model as a kid, years before the government admitted it existed. its been in the air since the early sixties. designed in 1949 or 1950. No one has yet to figure out how they manage it. the Government just denied the planes existed. I have no idea what happened behind the scenes. LOL
