The more our technology develops, the definitely higher chance that we can be given hoaxes to consider. The recent UFO sightings out here were reported by a pretty good number of people and my husband also saw it. Living in "UFO country" is kind of strange sometimes, seeing something bizarre and defying seeming explanation in the sky can be almost commonplace. Both my husband and I have seen a number of things taht were definitely weird. Last year, when we lived in Gallup, NM, we saw some really bizarre activity one night, including a large number of jets and helicopters circling this incredibly bright light not far outside of town. That sighting made the papers as well.
Like you though, I do find it interesting but only after I've seen something truly weird in the sky. It'll usually send me off into some questions as to what was it and if it was "aliens", what do they want with us? Lasts maybe 5-10 minutes and then the fit passes. If somebody were to ask me if I believed in UFOs being aliens from another planet, I'd have to honestly answer "I don't know". I personally prefer the real definition of UFO--unidentified flying object.
