Ick. I watched this because pictures from the film were
in my copy of 'Lost Horizons'.

I like Grease, but then I'm a total philistine and so lowbrow as to
be practically Neanderthal! grinning smiley

Never seen it, and never will!

I admit my affection for this film may be mostly nostalgia.
I was about six when it came out and am reliably informed I sang
the songs for about a week afterwards - to the distress of my
parents since I could not then, nor can I now, carry a tune.

As a matter of fact Shaw's play strongly implies Eliza returns to
Wimpole street, as does the afterword 'Eliza regards Wimpole street
as her home'. Of course I strongly disagree with Shaw's belief that
Eliza would marry Freddy, a young man who has absolutely nothing to
recommend him to an intelligent, strong willed woman a mate. Higgins on
the other hand provides a very tempting challenge with almost assured
victory at the end since he clearly needs Eliza badly. The only question
is is he worth the trouble of winning?

Shaw like most intelligent men of a certain age and experience was
convinced he understood women - and like most was quite mistaken. If
I, a woman, am sometimes mystified by the actions of my sex how can
a mere man expect to penetrate our mystery? grinning smiley
