Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by Billie Piper, too. But, having got used to Christopher Ecclestone, I don't know that I'm feeling very enthusiastic about Tennant ...

I don't know, also, whether the storylines are THAT brilliant. I'm not sure that one of the principal charms of the original Dr. Who series was the ability to make its audience fall about laughing at the special effects, prepared on a budget of, oooh, several £££, which seemed to consist mainly of painted polystyrene or bits of melted plastic with a light-bulb inside ... and then, of course, there was the infamous gravel pit (anyone else out there remember the gravel pit?), which seemed to turn up time and time again as every planet in the cosmos ... Still, give it a chance: it might yet figure in this series, too ...
