That's very interesting. I did watch Stalker and found it to be, for me, the most difficult to absorb.. and it was most definitely very powerful. On of these soon days, I plan to view it again.

Also, I feel that every Tarkovsky film is masterly and powerful; in fact, I have watched them all at least once, every last film he made, including "The Killers," "The Steamroller and the Violin," "My Name Is Ivan," "Andrei Rublev," "The Mirror," "Solaris," "Stalker," "Nostalghia," and "Sacrifice."

Nostalghia was made in Italy, and Sacrifice in Sweden because T had to leave Russia in order to survive artistically. These two films make a particularly spiritual and visual ending to T's career, especially the last which deals with a personal solution to apocalypse.. just lovely.
