This is pretty serious guys. So compter illiterate me was using my computer as usual, going through some files saved in the My Documents folder. In a folder some three folders deep, i came across a perfectly normal-looking notepad file. As it happens, i was looking for a particular post i made and so had to go through each file, including the notepad file which i assumed was something i made in that format. When i opened it, my firewall prompted me immediately, but i was stupid enough to think that maybe it was trying to access a file on my university network. I allowed it and my computer went haywire. Now everytime i turn on my computer, hundreds of windows are thrown up on the screen as soon as i login. It's obviously some kind of browser hijacking trojan trying to access the internet. I managed to run adware for a short while before restarting the computer for the first time, after which i've not been able to access it or anything again because of the bombardment. It didn't do much, but i identified three brower hijacking items under registry keys rated medium in seriousness. I hope this is not as serious as it seems. Trust me i
cannot afford to lose everything on my hard drive. It has all my coursework as well as everything i have ever downloaded. Also, can you guys tell me how this file managed to get into somewhere three folders deep among my personal archives. I've had files like this before, but they are usually suspicious looking .exe files either in Windows or Program Files. This really did catch me by surprise - not a compliment to the sick weirdo sad enough to design something like this! Any help is highly appreciated. thx in advance
