I'm guessing that it has. I see alot of green pictures of Kansas and etc. Out here, it's been dusty for ages. My grandparents lived in New Mexico for a while and although my grandmother loved the scenery, she despised the dust. Boy can I relate to her. I don't know how many times I will do "spring cleaning" with all the windows open wide for a jolt of fresh air only to have the house get sandblasted when I'm all done at the end of the day. These sandblasts can be really quite bad. To give you an idea, we have a black leather couch. Post sandblast, it's no longer black but a nice reddish brown...
Sand/duststorms are common in New Mexico, Arizona and probably parts of E. California and Texas as well. Where there's desert--there's sandstorms.
