I was talking to my friend yesterday about Science fiction movies and their worth. In my opinion, one of the best is the underated movie ' Event Horizon'(1997)

I like this film because it whilst it is set in space, it is also clearly a horror film which explores the depths of evil in the human mind. The scenes contained in the movie which have been dubbed ' visions of hell' stem from one source, the human mind. The idea behind the movie is that an experimental spacecraft, the Event Horizon has been sent into deep space to test a new means of propulsion which can get around relativity.

What it is supposed to do, is fold spacetime so that a star light years away exists in the same time and space as the ship. The ship then passes through a gateway at zero distance and reaches the star. Only, the ship goes further than that, it tears a hole in the universe and enters another dimension, where known scientific reality does not exist. A dimesion of chaos, pure evil, and the crew promptly butcher each other in an orgy of sex and violence.

Seven years later, the ship returns, a signal is loacted from Neptune orbit and a rescue crew along with the ship's designer is sent to recover her, only hell is awaiting them...

Anyone seen it ?
