If you haven't already done so, consider taking an advanced driving course.

The AA does, I believe, a Pass Plus course. I'm currently learning with the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists).

Broadly speaking, you learn how to get from A to B just as quick, if not quicker, and much, much safer than all the drivers driving faster than you - your car's brakes last a lot longer, too

Some motor insurance companies give a discount for drivers with an AD pass.

It's also worth studying the Police Drivers' Handbook Roadcraft (available in most bookshops).
