Alan,
“A winter storm over the weekend dropped more than 3 feet of snow in some places, and up to 11 inches more fell Wednesday and Thursday for a January total of 43.1 inches in Boston -- more snow than in any month since the National Weather Service began keeping records in 1892.”
This was around the end of last month. We’ve gotten another 16-20” or so over the last couple of days. Fortunately there was a period of melt in between the January blizzard and this latest hit. People are pretty used to snow here, but this still seems rather excessive, and we are liable to get additional snow through late March-early April. Ugh.
BTW, I attended Tulane and remember little snowfalls here and there -- and, of course, the ensuing panic. No one seems to know how to drive in the stuff: still, we slid down from campus to the Quarter to go drinking. There are some things with which not even a snow "storm" should be allowed to interfere.
