Ditto the Age of Enlightenment.
I swear they think this is lurking somewhere:
PARIS (AP) July 29 1746: Today the Parlement of Paris, in alliance with the Sorbonne and the Crown, declared that today is the first day of the Enlightenment.
Mme de Pompadour, spokesperson for His Majesty Louis XV, said that this day was chosen for both its pleasant summer position and the fact that it didn't interfere with any Court fetes. "His Majesty wanted to be certain that all Frenchmen would know of the change in Ages, and if it were held the day after a new opera premiered there might be too many important people suffering from the effects of the night to properly mark the change."
The last age, known as the Age of Louis XIV, has been officially over since the Grand Monarch's death in 1715. "However, there has since been some confusion about what to call our current era," continued la Pompadour. "'Land of Confusion' seems a bit harsh, 'Lost in Space' is too vague, and 'The Clueless' unfairly paints too many with such a broad brush. His Majesty, however, finally chose the right moniker while fondly recalling the first time he, shall we say, grasped his sceptre."
London, Madrid, Vienna and even Warsaw have embraced the new Age. It is to be hoped that other realms soon follow suit.
