<HTML>It's absolutely certain that they didn't Derek; the Denderah zodiac is Ptolemaic and the presence on it of the "modern" constellations is entirely a result of Greek influences - and they got it from the Mesopotamians. The "true" AE constellations can be found in Ramesside (New Kingdom) tombs and on First Intermediate Period coffins - they're totally different from the modern ones. Additionally, the "modern" constellations didn't come into being until the first half of the 1st Millennium BC. This isn't a result of "conservatism" or "closed minds" in the Egyptological establishment. It's simply a result of the fact that the data isn't "ambiguous" or "missing" but that it totally contradicts anybody that claims "recognition" of the "modern" constellations in Egypt before Ptolemaic times. There's a good summary of <a href="[touregypt.net] Astrology In Egypt</a> - note that this isn't "speculation" or "opinion" but is based on analysis of the information.
