Last night, on a one-hour long History Channel plug for the LC proposition thinly veiled as an "investigation" of the Yonaguni formation, John Anthony West made a most revealing statement. In expressing his disappointment that the Yonaguni "monument" was not man-made, he said (laughing):

"We don't have the decisive evidence we need to go on believing what we want to believe." (Or words to that effect.)

Belief comes first, then the evidence. This is the precise inverse of reliable historical research.

No further comment needed.
