In the case of Llegadwy, many people might come to a similar conclusion.

Whilst searching, I came across this 2009 post:

I would like to
say I live near Llegadewy. Firstly the owners of this site never wanted TT
or any others to do a dig there. It is my understanding the owner had got
out of hospital the day before TT did the dig. To suggest the farmer planted
the findings of lots of different objects is just pure contempt. TT- it
appears did all they could to discredit the site and did not commence the
dig with an open mind. How an earth would the farmer know where TT was going
to dig? did the farmer point out where to dig? No he did not. TT went to
that site intent on doing all they could to discredit the entire site and
farmers. However even if it was all set up be the farmer,I would take my hat
off and say good try! not many would have the guts and bottle to go all the
way. (Ann Jones; Apr 21, 2009, 11:02:41 PM; Google Groups, "Llygadwy 2001 - a few questions?" [groups.google.com]

Very strange. IIRC, people were asked to approach Time Team if they knew of a site that they wanted to propose for excavation: not the other way round. And see:

01:55 "The landowner agreed to invite us to investigate."

(The times I've read comments like these ... )

Tony Robinson begins by explaining that they intend to subject the site to a forensic investigation. Which is what they proceed to do. How would Ms. Jones open-mindedly explain:

(a) the find in the spring of a late Iron Age headstone more reminiscent of finds from the south of France?

(b) the find of a fragment of Victorian marmalade jar under the foundations of the (alleged) Norman wall?

(c) the discovery in the spring of a remarkable quantity of coins dating to c. 300 AD, indicative of a pagan practice getting into its stride when Christianity was already becoming more widespread?

(d) the discovery of the famous Iron Age sword, lying on top of a section of barbed wire?

With regard to (d), TT did their dutiful best, duly investigating the barbed wire just in case it had happened to be invented some time in the Iron Age without anyone having actually noticed during suceeding millennia (in fact, there are no instances before the 19th century - [en.wikipedia.org].) But due diligence discovered that this particular bit of wire had been put in the ground fewer than tweny years previously ... (41:30).
