The Richat structure is now acquiring quite a following in certain quarters.

It seems that the first notice anyone took of it in recent times was a fairly vague reference in a book by a member of the French military, Ernest Psichari, in about 1910 (see here [Fr.], pg. 109 - [archive.org]).

It's described as "an extensive basin, stretching away to the northeast ... "

No known connection with Plato, though ...
