<HTML>I'm not familiar with them apart from that they existed. The end of the Pleistocene saw a reduction to megafaunal size, which correlates with changes in the environment (though not the warm-freezing cold climatic shift which Hancock postulates), and it wouldn't surprise me if this sub-species was one such evolutionary offshoot.
