Exploring the sundial idea for a moment...
Some of this pyramid geometry stuff seems to show the egyptians could make perpendicular lines.

Giza is near the equator, right? How many degrees is it off by? The sun should be almost directly overhead in the summer. If the Egyptians used the East-West motion of the Sun, and then drew a perpendicula line... where would that point be? How close to North? Has this possibility been eliminated?
