I have stated that I believe you that they could measure it, just that the terminology and the exact measure of radical two would have been beyond them.


Now, to take this a bit off topic (and to stick with the idea of measurement limits), how could the Egyptians have been 100% accurate pointing at true north? I am unaware of any other early complex society that was.

Isn't it more likely that they were off by less than a degree to 1.1 degrees? For people without compasses and going by the stars this is certainly itself an accomplishment, and would certainly outdo anything I can think of in other early complex societies.

It seems to me that it is more likely that, if the Egyptians where using true north to plot, it is more likely that they were off by about a degree and that they fit with all currently dated material from Ancient Egypt and established chronologies, than they being 100% accurate (actually unheard of itself) and all other relavent studies of ancient Egypt being incorrect.
