It simply confirms to me that these are rock and not just sand. I spent hours searching for this picture.





The shapes of these structures imply a means of deposition with which
I'm not familiar. I couldn't get any response at a geological website
for an opinion on causation. The fact that they surround most of the
pyramids may be coincidental or just that these tend to represent high
spots. There are numerous possibilities.

It's possible that they are what they appear to be; "stalagmites" left
by upwelling water over thousands of years. If so then there is some
possibility that the water was still upwelling when the pyramids were
built.

Not being on site is a tremendous disadvantage since some things could
be deduced by mere observation but these might be relatively easy to dice
up. A few counterweights on smaller structures to the south of the larger
pyramid could even be set to pull in tandem and steer the stones to the
proper area.
