<HTML>Religious sect and politcal classes are a by-product (albeight an integral and important part) of cultural and social change, rather than the primary cause of a complete shift from one way of life to another, with all the attendent changes in thinking which go along with that. The mindsets are stark opposites.

For an elite to emerge there needs to be signs of control. There also needs to be sedentarism in order for there to first be a base upon which future developments expand. Hunter-gatherers do not have that concept.

I am looking forward to reading the book. It arrived in the post this morning:-)
