The direction that the humans and animals face on each inscription show the way that the text is supposed to be read. Sometimes the text reads left to right and sometimes right to left.

You have to be sure that you are being shown the complete evidence. You can't get just a small hunk of text and make conclusions about it. That would be like me trying to decode YOUR message ( "I am a retired builder and know nothing about hieroglyphics." etc, etc, etc ) by grabbing out 8 letters from what you said ( "am a ret" ) and trying to massage those 8 letters with math and other things to reconstruct a message.
You could make all sorts of things out of "am a ret"... but none of them would be a reconstruction of your message.
Rule #1 in looking at ancient materials: Know what the WHOLE thing is.
