I’ve been reluctant to reproduce the key plates (lithographs) online for this reason.

Ideally one would scan from a (good) copy of the book, but libraries are strangely reluctant to let one do this; the alternative would be to scan from photocopies, but I’ve noticed a significant loss of fine detail in 1:1 photocopies.

In one case, I used a x4 photocopy to get adequate definition (of a detail only: clearly this wouldn’t work for the full plate, let alone the much larger plates in the companion work published under Perring’s name).
