Some interesting web pages about Chiasson's Chinese ruins:

The Island of 7 Cities Exposed by Andrew Hanam
July 2006, [www.1421exposed.com]

"Re: “The Island of the Seven Cities” by Paul Chiasson",
a letter by Lynn Baechler, M.Sc., P.Geo., Hydrogeologist,
June 26, 2006, to Random House Canada, [www.1421exposed.com]

A letter from David W. MacKenna, President and General
Manager of Kelly Rock Limited, the company, which did
the geologic work and road building on Kelly's Mountain,
sent to me, read in part:

"1. The area circled on figured 1 are the drill locations
of our drill holes. The cleared areas are the spaces
cleared for the drill set up. Enclosed is a list of the
coordinates of the drill holes which coincide with the
cleared areas. One cleared area near Lynn Lake was used
as a helicopter pad,"

The areas, which I circled on a excerpt from an aerial
photograph of Kelly's Mountain, the "figure 1" referred
to in the above quote, were the clearings, which Paul
Chassion claimed were courtyards. Mr. MacKenna completely
collaborates what Lynn Baechler stated about the origin
of Chiasson's Chinese courtyards.

In the same letter, Mr. MacKenna stated about the roads,
which Mr. Chiasson claimed were made by the Chinese and
associated with his so-called "courtyards" and I marked
on the same figure with "R":

"2. The roads shown in Figure 1 "R" were built entirely by
our men and equipment 1898-1990."

He also stated in the letter:

"4. In all the time we spent on the mountain in 1989-1990
and a few vistis since, many trips made on foot, we have
never seen any indication that others had been there before
us (except the roads, fire breaks, around the "burned
areas"). From the location of the fires NW to the proposed
quarry site, there was no evidence to suggest to us that
any man made features were on the mountain."

In the letter, he also collaborates what Mr. Andrew Hanam
has to say about other Chinese ruins being the result of
fire-fighting efforts.

I also acquired copies of the historic aerial photography
of parts of Kellys Mountain. Having look at them myself,
I completely agree with the interpretations made by Mr.
Andrew Hanam.

Finally, I made a map showing the locations of what Chiasson
claims to be Chinese ruins on Kelly's Mountain. I can easily
send a jpg of it to interested parties.

Best Regards,

Paul H.
